The Root Cause of Acne

There are three factors that cause acne. All three these factors must be present in the skin in order for acne to form and survive. You will not get acne if any one of these factors is not present.

Androgen hormone imbalance triggers the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin to produce excess oil, but this alone will only cause oily skin and hair, not acne. As the body's primary detoxification organ, the liver is responsible for purifying the bloodstream. However, when the liver becomes congested with toxins from a weak immune system, the toxins will circulate in the bloodstream and eventually get excreted through the body's secondary detoxification organ - the skin. Water soluble toxins are excreted through the sweat glands while oil soluble toxins are excreted through the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin, but this alone will also only cause oily skin and hair.Haven’t you seen people with very oily skin and yet don’t have acne? This is because you will only develop acne when the excess oil contains oil soluble toxins - if genetic predisposition is also present, since the sebaceous (oil) glands in the skin need to be sensitive to the androgen hormone imbalance and oil soluble toxins for acne to develop. This explains why some people get acne and others don’t – even if they follow a fairly similar diet and lifestyle. It’s simple. One or more of these factors are not present in their body.

Acne Anatomy

If the sebaceous glands in the skin are sensitive to androgen hormone imbalance and oil soluble toxins, it will release excess oil containing oil soluble toxins into the skin pore. However, the combination of excess oil and oil soluble toxins make it a thick and pasty substance that blocks the skin pore. Skin bacteria known as Propionibacterium Acnes, which naturally live in everyone's skin pores, may or may not get trapped in the blocked pore. If they do, they will multiply and overgrow in the blocked pore, thus triggering the immune system to respond. Pus, the white substance that comes out when you pop a pimple, is the result of the immune system’s natural response to fight bacteria with white blood cells. Pus contains white blood cells, bacteria and sebaceous matter (oil and toxins). However, a pimple can still form without trapped bacteria. This is known as a papule (small bump) or nodule (big bump). Nothing comes out when you try to squeeze them because they are not filled with pus, although they may go on to fill with pus later on and become a pustule or a cyst (if bacteria do eventually get trapped in the pore).

 All your efforts to cure your acne with external acne treatments such as creams, lotions, laser treatment etc. will be in vain, since acne is not an external problem with your skin but an external manifestation of a deep internal problem.
